Welcome to LisaanMasry, the largest and most comprehensive set of learning resources for Egyptian Arabic
The word search facility of the dictionary makes it easy to find a word, either in English or in Egyptian Arabic, even if you are not sure how to spell it exactly. It is equally easy to use for Egyptians and Europeans, and is suitable for occasional use or for serious students. Egyptian words are written both in arabic script with tashkyl (short vowels) and in european writing, and there are recordings of somebody saying the main forms of each word.
In addition to the dictionary, there is also a thesaurus, example sentences, an introduction to egpytian arabic grammar, and tools to help you learn vocabulary, improve your pronunciation and read and write arabic.
It is available in several formats, so that you can use the dictionary whenever, wherever you need it. Check out the table below for the features available on each format, then either go to the download page or use links on the left to get more information.

lisaanmasry.com is changing its name to lisaanmasry.org: the old name will still work for a while, but please make a note of the new name. All of the apps and documents are being updated to reflect this change. If you are using the Java app on Windows and Mac, you should update it in order to keep it working. Updated versions of the Android and iPhone apps will be released soon via Google Play and App store. If you have already downloaded the kindle or PDF documents, there is probably no need to download new copies.
The Java app is now available as a Linux Debian package. There are also updates for Windows and Mac to deal with problems with sound file download.
